Public Hearing on Coal Mining in Rhea County

At a Public Hearing on Coal Mining in Rhea County on April 26 th, 2012, residents were introduced to plans to mine coal on Walden’s Ridge. The large historic Dayton Courthouse was full at this State Public Hearing meeting and officials from EPA, TDEC and EPA were present. At the meeting groups of locals gathered to ask questions and voice their opinions.

 
To voice your opinions send them in writing to the TN Dept of Environmental Conservation, 3711 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville TN 37921 or by email to gary.mullins@tn.gov. Reference Liberty and Security Mines and Prepping Plant Permits in your letter or email. You can send your written letter by May 10, 2012 or earlier.
